of little madding come great ease | Ek dar band das dar khole |
Sealed not your lips in another man’s pottage | Encha khencha wo phirey jo pare paraye beach main |
Cast in the same mould | Ek thely k chatey batey |
Chips of the same block | Ek turkish k teer/ Ek saanchey k dhaley howey |
But one egg and that addled | Ek anda wo bhi ganda |
Blows will answer blows | Eint k lene patthar k dene |
A slip of the tongue is the default of the mind/ silence answers much | Ek choop or hazar sookh |
Strength is increased by concord | Ek or do giyara/ Ek se do bhale |
United we stand, divided we fall | Itefakh main araam, nafakh main takleef |
Victory is gained by concord | Bandhi mothi lakh barabar |
Union is strength | Itehad main barkat he |
Do nothing to-day that you are likely to repent tomorrow | Asi kerni mat kero jo kal pachtao |
A crooked stick has a crooked shadow | Naanki lakri ka banka saya |
Lavish in words niggard in deeds | Baton ka dhani kartab khowar |
A king’s favour is not the inheritance of anyone | Badshai kisi ki meras nahi |
He who keeps God for a friend loses nothing | Baal beka na kersake kal jug beeri ho |
Fortune knocks once at least at every man’s door | Ek Ek dafa sub k din phirtey hen |
One post and lots of candidates | Ek aanar so bemaar/ Ek jaan hazar arman/ Ek jaan hazar kharidar |
One example is better than a hundred precepts | Ek nazeer ek so nasihat |
Sad hours seem long | Ayame mosibat kaate nahi kattey |
One lie makes ten others necessary | Ek jhoot k lye dus jhooti batain or batani parti hen |
A rotten sheep infects the whole flock | Ek paapi na-o ko dobota he/ Ek gandi machli sare jal ko ganda ker deti he |
Some thing is better than nothing | Bilkul na hone se thora bhala |
Every dog has his day | Bara baras bad kori k din bhi phirtey hen |
