Riches have wingsDolat dhalti phirti chaoon hy
The hills look green when they are far awayDoor k dhol suhane
A burnt child dreads the fireDodh ka jala chach ko bhi phonkh phonkh ker peeta hy
Employment brings joyRozgar he tu bahar hy
Gifts make the beggars boldDhaawe ga so paawe ga
Walls have earDewar k bhi kaan hote hen
Let us see what turn the dice takesDekhye kia paansa perta hy
A mad dog bites its own masterDeewana hathi apni foj ko mare
Let us see which way the wind blowsDekhiye ount kis karwat bethta hy
What ever you gave in charity you gained and what ever you spent you have lostDe gaya so le gaya, Kha gaya so kho gaya
Foxes prey farthest from their denDaien bhi dus ghar chor ker khati hy
A rolling-stone gather no mossDanwan dol admi sada khawar hota hy
A drowning man catches at a strawDoobte ko tinky ka sahara
Fortune knocks each man’s door at least once in lifeDhai din sakhe ne bhi badshahat ki
Star are not seen by the daylightZarrah ko aftab k agay fokh nahi
Honesty is the best policyRasti mojab razaye khudast/ imandari sub se achi baat hy
A short day and much workRaat thori, sawang bhot / ek mukhtaser din or itna kaam

The law goes as the king pleasesRaja kare so nayao pansa pare so dao
Do not leave the right path and you are safeRah chor ker jo rah chale tu jaldi dhoka khaye
