A foolish son is  a calamity for the parentsNa janti na dhol bajta
Better reign in hell than serve in paradiseJanat ki ghulami se jahanum ki hokomat bheter he
Barking dogs seldom  biteJo garjta he wo barsta nahi
East or west, home is bestJo sokh chobare na balkh na bokhare
Evil begets evilJo bura chahe ouska bura hota he
Avarice increase with wealthJon Jon murghi moti hoti he dum sokerti he
God helps those who help themselvesJo khod ko sanbhale ouse aap sanbhale
Do not live the market for the tillJowon k karan guddi nahi chori jati
Gambling readily lends to ruinJowe main ababeel bhi har dijye
Mildness governs better than angerJo kaam narmi se nikalta he wo garmi se nahi nikalta
A thin bush is better than no shelter at allJahan rakh nahi wahan arand per dehan
Of a mole he makes a mountainJahan soi na jawy wahan mosal ghosere
There is no rose without a thornJahan phool wahan kanta
In for a penny, in for a poundJahan so wahan sawa so
Like priest like peopleJesi rooh wesi farishte
As is the king so is the courtJesa raja wesi parja
Do in Rome as the Ramans doJesa des wesa bhes
As you sow so you shall reapjesi kerni wesi bharni/ Jesa karoge wesa bharo ge
A handsome face needs no paintChaand na chahe banda
