He that lends his friend lose him | udhaar mohbat ki kenchi he |
A little in quiet is the best of all diet | Aaram ki rokhi hazar nemat he |
Open the purse and then open thy sack | uss hath do uss hath lo |
Show and steady wins the race | Such pake so meetha |
He that blows in the sky shall fill his own eye | Asman ko thooka moun per gray |
But for hope, the heart would break | AASa jiye narasa mary |
In at one ear and out at the other | Is kaan souni ous kaan uradi |
Suspense is worse than death | Aas parai wo takey jo jewat hi mar jay |
All the sweets in the life are mingled with the bitters | iss dunia k aish aram k sath mily howy hen |
Out of the fry-pan into the fire | Aasman se gira khajoor main atka/ karahi se nikle aag main grey |
Out of the smoke into the fire | Choolhe se nikal bhar main jaye |
To live at the rate of six scores to he hundred | Iski aamdani chorasi ka kharch |
Money often makes the man | Aasharaf wo jis k pass asharafi hey |
Penny often makes the man | Asharfian loteen koilon pr maher |
A good horse should be seldom spurred | Asal ghore ko chabook ki zaroorat nahi |
It is never late to mend | Islah her wakat mumkin hey |
It is good to have company in distress | Aakela na hansta bhala na rota |
One man cannot do the work of ten | Aakela chana bhar nahi phorta |
One flower makes no garland/One swallow makes no spring | Aakeli lakri kahan tak jaley |
A fault confessed is half redressed | Ikhrar-e-jurm islaha jurm |
Borrowing is the mother of trouble | Aag khaye moun na jaley/ Udhar khaye pet na jaley |
The mouth will not burn by pronouncing the word fire | Aag kheny se moun nahi jalta |
